FIU’s online Master of Public Health (MPH) is an affordable, fully online, Council on Education for Public Health (CEPH)-accredited generalist public health degree designed for working professionals seeking flexible, cost-effective, and rigorous graduate training in public health.

Delivered through Florida International University’s Robert Stempel College of Public Health & Social Work, the online MPH prepares students to address population-level public health challenges across healthcare systems, government agencies, nonprofit organizations, and community-based settings, without requiring campus attendance or a specialized concentration.

FIU’s online MPH is the only fully online generalist Master of Public Health offered in South Florida through the Florida State University System (SUS). Students complete asynchronous coursework designed to support full-time employment while learning from faculty actively engaged in public health research, policy, and practice.

    The online MPH program has a flexible time to completion. Depending on enrollment, students can complete the program in as little as one year or at their own pace

    Practicum options

    All online MPH students complete PHC 6945 Practicum in Public Health (200 hours). Students with three or more years of relevant public health experience may request a field experience waiver with an approved 3-credit substitute course to maintain the total 45-credit program requirement.

    Financial Aid and Scholarship Options

    In addition to the affordable tuition, FIU online MPH students may apply for federal financial aid by completing the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA).

  • What are the admission requirements?

    Applicants to the online MPH program are expected to meet FIU’s general graduate admission requirements. However, meeting minimum requirements does not necessarily guarantee admission.

    Minimum eligibility

    • A bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) from a regionally accredited U.S. institution, or from an internationally recognized institution that prepares students for graduate-level study
    • Minimum 3.0 GPA in the last 60 upper-level undergraduate credits
    • International graduate applicants who are not native English speakers must submit an English proficiency test score that meets FIU requirements. 
    • No GRE required.

    Applications are submitted through SOPHAS, the centralized public health application service administered by the Association of Schools and Programs of Public Health (ASPPH). In addition, applicants must complete the FIU Graduate Admissions Supplemental Application.
